This last week, we had the pleasure of chatting with Tiffany Alyse Yelverton, Owner of Entice Me, a company which specializes in “Sexucation.” Essentially, Tiffany and her lovely “sexinistas” share their intimate knowledge and chic sexy toys at bachelorette parties, bridal showers, fundraisers, and nearly any sort of soiree they are requested to attend in Los Angeles and Orange County.
Tiffany’s company primarily provides toys and products to enhance couples’ private lives, with a focus placed on the benefits to women’s sexual health. Tiffany shares her knowledge and tips in this interview. She will show us how to create a fun atmosphere for any kind of party. Enjoy the interview, and then put her knowledge to work.
A party that makes it easier to feel good about yourself and makes it a little more sexy. Whether it be through food, décor or the theme of the party–a sexy party is meant to make you feel hot! This can be accomplished through candles and martinis or wine and rock, it’s whatever you define as sexy.
There’s a great company called Table TopicsI like to use the cards as icebreakers. To break the ice, you can ask your guests a variety of questions on the cards. A few of the ones I use the most frequently are “Not Your Mama’s Dinner Party” and “Girls Night Out.” The way to play these games is to pair guests up when they arrive, and then give each guest a card. The guests will then ask each other questions and will feel more comfortable in the room. Guests will feel more at ease if they have a few light drinks. (Laughs). You can make your party fun and lively with a little champagne or a non-alcoholic cocktail. Another game I enjoy with my guests is naming a part of your body and everyone calling you by that name.
Overall, just let shy guests know that they’re sexy, we’re all sexy, and make them feel comfortable. We each have our own inhibitions, that we’re all there, and that we all have the same issues–we all just express them differently. We all think the exact same things. This will encourage your guests to be more open and participate in the fun.
Martini themed parties are really big right now, and so are ‘classic cocktail’ themed parties. You can have your guests bring their favorite ingredient for a cocktail and then you can all make the cocktails together. Champagne and Strawberry themed parties are a classic. Chocolate themed parties are also a popular choice. Recently, I have noticed that Burlesque parties are very in demand. Personally, I’m a huge fan of Burlesque-themed parties. They are very sexy, classy, and fun. The decorations for Burlesque themed parties are also quite simple–make sure to have lots of feather boas, pearls and diamonds. To get in more of the Burlesque spirit, I’m actually about to take a Burlesque class I found on Groupon in Hollywood with my fellow sexinista, Rikki. I’m really excited for it!
The most common theme I see at parties is called Girls’ Night In. There are plenty of pre-made cups, plates, and napkins. The traditional color schemes for this theme are black and pink. While this theme is fun, I recommend being more creative with your theme–especially with the color schemes. As the economy is improving, I have noticed a shift to brighter colors such red and orange from darker browns and grays. Parties with pink and black color schemes are starting to disappear. I predict that reds and oranges will be the new hottest color scheme for sexy parties in the coming years.
Anything that makes your heart feel good. Feather boas, which are tactile and fun party favors, are great. Candles add class and elegance to your party. Look for decorations that will help create a mood for your party–and make sure that the decorations match the theme as well. I’m not a big fan of the male body part decorations, such as necklaces and wall art, as well as any sort of cheesier style of decorations. I prefer simple, sexy decorations.
Women loved Parisian decorations and themes for a long time. I have noticed that women are moving away from Parisian themes and decorations and moving towards more New York-based themes and decorations. We might start to see more New York Seventh Avenue sexiness, Breakfast at Tiffany’s sexiness. In fact, a Breakfast at Tiffany’s themed party would be super fun and sexy!
Finger food is always a good option. Easy to eat dishes are important. You don’t want your guests fumbling around with their dishes, beverage, a fork etc. Right now I’ve noticed that baked brie is really in, as are mini-quiches. I would also recommend having a fondue–they require little set-up and clean up, and they are good because they are interactive. Fondues will inspire guests to interact with one other. In terms of deserts, you also want to have small, individual desserts. Cupcakes are on their way out–but I have noticed that mini pies, small tarts and petit-fours are growing in their popularity. One cute theme you could try–that connects in with the food–is “Be a tart;” where you could serve little tarts as the main dessert.
At a sexy party, do not serve super bowl food. Chips & dip are not very sexy. Burlesque and Doritos do not go together. Make sure your food theme matches the overall theme of the party. Food is an integral part of any party. You can make so many delicious, easy recipes, or hire a professional baker and caterer to wow your guests.
Champagne cocktails have become very popular. Mixing old Hollywood cocktails with hand-crafted bitters and different flavors of spirits is becoming very trendy. This trend is not only popular at home, but also at bars. Old Fashioneds, Manhattans, and Old Fashioneds are some of the most well-known cocktails. Sweet martinis like cosmopolitans are starting to go out of fashion, but this all depends on your guests’ preferences and age. I recommend that you avoid margaritas and even a margarita-themed party. They are very out of date.
Mad Men themed-parties are becoming more popular as classic cocktails become more in style. Mad Men themed parties don’t just appeal to sexy partygoers. My sister had a Mad Men themed holiday celebration, where all guests brought food from sixties. (There were so many molded Jell O salads!) A Mad Men-themed party is a great idea if you are looking for a unique way to host a party.
E-vite is still very popular, but I think that people will start going back to sending invitations in the mail–it has a nice, personal touch to it. Send your invitations electronically if you’re interested. Pingg is a new website for online invitations that’s great because you can upload your own pictures and graphics. Reds and oranges are going to be very popular as the primary color scheme in invitations. The trend towards brighter colors is evident in invitations. My favorite font for invitations is Parisian Standard because it’s so cute. Try fonts that are different–it’s much more fun. Comic Sans MS MS can be used to mix it all up. Your font and color scheme should be matched to your party theme. Take a look at the fonts available and choose the one that best suits your personality and the theme for your event. It’s easy to do.
I believe that drinking games should be avoided. You don’t want anyone getting too drunk to the point that they are not having any fun. You should not encourage your guests or friends to play with shots, quarters, etc. I would also recommend avoiding truth or dare type games, as you do not want to make anyone feel uncomfortable. Do not allow your guests to engage in discussions or games that involve religion, politics, or sports. These topics can get heated. UCLA vs. USC fans can really divide a crowd. (Laughs.) I don’t think you ever want to force a guest to do anything at a party. You want them to feel at ease. It’s not about you, it’s about the guests. It’s your job to ensure that guests have a great time.
They are possible and very enjoyable. Sexy parties are very popular with men. These are great for couples. Women and men learn together and then can read each other on what they want. We’ve had great success with couples parties. They are becoming more and more popular–not only with straight couples, but with same-sex couples as well. I’ve noticed that the main audience has been in 40-50 year old range, who are interested in trying to re-connect with their partners and spice up their love life.
Singles parties are best if you have more women than men. We had almost all the men at one event with one woman. She felt very comfortable. Make sure you have both men and ladies on your guest list.
You can include touch-related games in your ice-breakers, especially for couples, when you plan a co-ed party. The lock and keys game is a great game. This is a great icebreaker. One person has the key and the other has it. The goal is to find the person with your key/lock. This game allows guests to interact and get to know each other.
White roses are beautiful and roses are beautiful. I haven’t seen many flowers at parties. Flowers would be beautiful and a great way for you to stand out.
Make sure you have the right music and the right sexy games for your theme. You can entertain your guests by playing a movie, such as Casablanca or Burlesque, in the background. This will provide some visual entertainment and be a great conversation starter. I wouldn’t recommend hiring bands or D.J. unless you have a big enough patio to house them–bands and D.J.’s tend to feel a little confined if they are inside. Hire a boudoir photographer for the party. I would actually recommend having your party at the photographer’s studio, where you and your guests can try doing boudoir photography. Boudoir photography is super fun–and will make your guests feel super sexy.
Sexy parties do not always have to be hosted in your home–I’ve held sexy parties at restaurants, hotels, churches, community centers and gyms. A great way to support your local restaurants is to have a sexy party on a night that they’re slow. This will bring in more customers, increase sales, and help you cut down on your costs. If you want to have your sexy party at a hotel, make sure that the hotel is friendly and let them know what’s going on, as some hotels have regulations.
